POSITION DESCRIPTIONS AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All participants are hired as Supermarket Associates.
Participants will be assigned a specific position during orientation with their store manager. Participants may be assigned one of the positions below:
Sales Associate: Customer checkout at the cash register, scan all items, bag items, keep cash register area clean and tidy, gather carts and remove trash from carts, must be familiar with American currency, must be able to lift 10 lbs.
Produce Associate: Help restock and label fresh produce items, work in coolers for extended periods of time, wash produce items, must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
Deli Bakery Associate: Work with bulk meat and cheese utilizing a slicer (slicer will only be used after completing all safety training and observing all safety practices), make sandwiches, subs, cakes, parfaits and fry chicken, sell deli products, package meat and products, help clean deli area. Will be working in coolers and freezers, must be able to lift 60 lbs.
Meat and Seafood Associate: Wrap, weigh, and stock fresh meat cases with seafood and meat (including pork). Operate, clean, and maintain wrapping stations and scales. Ensure proper rotation of product, stock lunchmeat and freezer cases and empty cartons in a grocery stock cart. Tear cartons down and place them on the top shelf of the cart. Will be working in freezers and coolers for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 60lbs.
Grocery Associate: Rotate product in accordance with Food Lion/Hannaford current stocking and conditioning policy, maintain shelf allocations by stocking from tag to tag. Reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 70 lbs. as needed to stock product for majority of shift, push or pull product up to 2000 lbs. using a pallet jack. May work in coolers and freezers for extended periods of time, will handle canned meat and dairy products. Clean bathrooms and floors using a machine and/or mopping bucket. This is a physically demanding position.
